Achill Island, Ireland – October 24, 2012: Another lay day was called today for day 6 of the Are Lingus Kite Surf Pro. The forecast is looking good for the days ahead and into the weekend.
“The wind returned today after a few days of light breeze”, said contest director Mark Wardt. “We’re closely watching the forecast for anywhere within driving distance and are confident we will be in the right place when conditions allow us to continue the event.”
Wave heights and wind speeds are expected to increase starting tomorrow and continue to build through the end of the holding period. Event organizers and competitors are optimistic they will be able to complete the early rounds in the coming days and finish the finals in what looks to be classic Irish conditions this weekend.
When competition resumes, men’s heat number 8 will be up first with Keahi De Aboitiz (AUS, Cabrinha), World Champion Airton Cozzolino (ITA, North) and local wildcard Mark Barry (IRL), followed by the commencement of women’s round 1.
