Port Louis, Mauritius – September 5, 2012: In an opening press conference held yesterday at the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) in Port Louis, the Mauritian tourism authorities welcomed the One Eye Kite Surf Pro event to their beautiful island nation and expressed their desire to promote eco-tourism on Mauritius.
Following his warm welcome, Director of the MTPA, Dr. Karl Mootoosamy, stated; "All elements of this competition will be used and relayed around the world to promote the destination in other countries and in international tourism fairs including TOP RESA and the World Travel Market.”
The President of the MTPA, Robert Desvaux, went on to say; “…the appreciation for eco-tourism is growing and we must put all our strengths together so that tourists can stay..."
KSP tour rider and world number 2 Mitu Monteiro of Cabo Verde then explained to the national press just what makes Mauritius one of the world’s top kitesurf destinations: “Mauritius is one of the top 5 kitesurf spots in the world. When I am out there riding the beautiful waves I just know it is a kitesurfing paradise.”
Preparations are now in full swing for the kick off of this greatly anticipated event on Friday, September 7, 2012. Riders, organizers and spectators are nervously anticipating the spectacular conditions forecast to take place at One Eye this upcoming weekend as a large-scale ground swell approaches from the south west.
